Rural Mission Project
On Saturday, April 30, a team from Our Saviour spent a day of hard work building a wheelchair ramp for an elderly lady at her home in a very rural part of Johns Island. After a time of prayer led by Mike Clarkson, the workers set off on a new construction project. We were full of anticipation of having the ramp completed by 12:00.
After almost an hour of hard work it became obvious that the original plan for
the ramp would not work as its route took it directly over the septic tank - not
a good idea. Fortunately, master builders Koenig and Hancock were on hand to
redesign the ramp and to lead us to a successful completion. The fact we did
not finish the project until 3:30 did not in any way dampen the sense of
achievement and the satisfaction of a job well done.
Our thanks go to everyone who contributed in any way to this event; to those who helped prepare the materials on Wednesday; to those who hammered in nails, screwed in screws and dug holes for the supports; to those who provided refreshments for the workers; and especially to God for providing such perfect weather for our day.
There will be future opportunities to help build more wheelchair ramps. Come along and help. We promise you will get much more out of the project than you could ever have anticipated.
