Rural Mission Work
October 24, 2009
On Saturday, Oct. 24th, a work crew of eight high-spirited souls from
Church of Our Saviour (including three visiting adult children!) caravanned,
ladders and paint brushes in tow, to the home of Henrietta Mack on Wadmalaw Island.
Mrs. Mack, who celebrated her 73rd birthday that day, lives in an old trailer
next door to the home which she will hopefully be moving into by Christmas.
The house is a Rural Mission "new build" which has been built entirely by
mission teams from churches around the country this year. Our assignment was
to paint the front and back porches.
We all had a great time, sharing laughter and paint, and we even had a little birthday party for Mrs. Mack - many thanks to Linda Fasig of Rural Mission, who coordinated the work day for us. We put two coats of paint on the front porch and one on the back. There is still more work to be done and we hope to have another work day in November . We would love to have you help us! Many thanks to our crew: Sue Jackson and her son Simon, her daughter Naomi and son-in-law Alex, Mike Todd, Diane McCoy, and Joan and Rick Bullock. Mrs. Mack was so appreciative, and it was a wonderful way to spend a lovely fall day.
