Mission to Mexico

Mexico pic 1 Most of us are aware of the important work Church of our Saviour does for our neighbors in need locally. And now, with our new Mission's Ministry, we will be reaching out to brothers and sisters abroad.

November 7-14th 2009 a Church of our Savior Mission Team will travel to Chiapas, Mexico with Water Missions International. (WMI)

Mexico pic 2 Why are we going? THE GREAT COMMISSION! Jesus said, "Therefore go and make disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28: 19-20).

Please pray for the people we will be ministering to in Chiapas as well as each Mission Team member: Louise Devlin, Susie Keefe, Jen Munday, Amy Thompson, Mike Clarkson, Woody Hancock, Quentin Jackson, Brad Munday, Dave Ralston, and Brad Reed.

Chiapas is a province in the mountainous southern tip of Mexico, bordering Guatemala. Our trip begins in San Cristobal, where we'll attend church and spend Sunday afternoon visiting Mayan Indian communities. On Tuesday, we'll travel 5 hours to Palenque to install the Living Water Treatment System that many of you graciously donated. We will also carry out the following celebration day activities in the nearby Mayan villages: show the "Jesus" movie, take photos of Mayan families for them to have as keepsakes, do crafts, and play games. On our last day, we will reflect on our mission experience at the beautiful Mayan ruins and waterfalls. We'll have lots of pictures and stories for you when we return.

Mexico pic 3 It seems that every person you talk to who has been on a mission trip emphatically states that they got more out of it than they gave. How can this be? I believe it is the Holy Spirit working in each team member. When we are willing to put our faith on the line, God strengthens us. Something about giving and receiving!

Consider stepping out of your comfort zone to take a trip with the Lord on one of our 2010 Mission Trips. You never know where your faith might take you. The Apostle Paul said, "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength." (Phil 4: 13). Be part of Our Saviour's next Mission Team.
