Africa is Calling --- Church of Our Saviour Missions Ministry
Download the registration brochure here.

Burundi pic 1 In late August of this year a team from Our Saviour will be working with a number of local partner organizations to coordinate a mission trip opportunity for members of our congregation. The trip will be approximately 10 days in length and will be to the country of Burundi, Africa.

Why Burundi? It is a small country in south central Africa and geographically about the size of the state of Maryland. Burundi is a land locked country that is not blessed with an abundance of natural resources. The country is poor and the life expectancy of the population is only 49 years of age. 46% of the population is under the age of 14. Currently a number of other local Episcopal churches including St.Andrews and St. Michaels are working on projects in this country in addition to one of our local partners, Water Missions International.

The mission team will need individuals with a wide variety of skills to serve in a number of different ways. A segment of the group will be working on construction related ventures that may include installing a water purification system, the building of a foundation for an orphanage and possibly some work on primitive living facilities for the people in the community. Others will be working to provide a Vacation Bible School for the children and their caregivers at the orphanages. We will be working, praying and worshiping with local ministries on the ground in Burundi and it will no doubt be a great opportunity to see God at work in an area very different from where we live.

Burundi pic 2 There are a number of ways for our members to be involved with this trip:
  • Pray for the team and their mission,
  • Join us and participate on this team (we hope to have 10-15 members)
  • Contribute towards the cost of the work projects: projected cost: $30,000
  • Help finance the cost of another member that needs financial assistance *
    * The approximate cost of this trip will be $3,000. If you can not attend, a great way to help would be to contribute toward the cost of someone else that would like to go but can not afford the full cost. We are hopeful that we can create a scholarship fund that can provide up to 50% of the cost of the trip for those that would like to go but have a financial need.

Burundi pic 3 For those interested in learning more, there will be an informational dinner Friday, February 12th at 6pm at the church. We will be served dinner and we will have a presentation and slide show from representatives that have served in Burundi on prior trips. Please come and hear more about this exciting opportunity for our church. If you are interested, please contact Brad Munday at 843-830-1968 or any member of the Mission Ministry Team. There will be a sign-up sheet for the dinner at the back of the church and at the Angel Desk.
